Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how That App Company (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information in connection with the UK Fire Rota App (the “App”) and our website at www.thatappcompany.co.uk (the “Website”).
1. Who we are
That App Company operates the UK Fire Rota App and this Website. For privacy questions, contact us at info@thatappcompany.co.uk.
2. Summary
The App is designed to keep your rota information on your device. We do not require you to create an account, and the App does not send your rota settings to our servers.
3. Information the App stores on your device
When you set up or use the App, it may store the following locally on your device (for example using Apple’s on-device storage such as UserDefaults):
- Watch names and colours
- Your chosen shift pattern
- Calibration date and selected watch
- Bank holiday display preferences (for example Scotland and Northern Ireland toggles)
This information is used only to display your rota and related settings in the App. It remains on your device unless you delete the App or clear/reconfigure your data within the App.
4. Information we do not collect through the App
At present, the App does not:
- Create or require a user account
- Collect your name, email address, or contact details inside the App
- Access your device calendars or personal diary
- Use location services
- Use advertising trackers or third-party analytics SDKs
- Upload your rota configuration to That App Company servers
5. Website
When you visit our Website, your browser and our hosting provider may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and the date/time of access. This is typical server/access logging used to operate, secure, and maintain the Website.
If you email us (for example via “Get in touch”), we will receive whatever information you include in that message, and we will use it only to respond to your enquiry and manage related correspondence.
6. App Store / Apple
If you download the App from the Apple App Store, Apple may collect information as described in Apple’s own privacy policy and App Store terms. That processing is controlled by Apple, not by That App Company.
7. Legal bases (UK GDPR)
Where UK data protection law applies, we rely on:
- Legitimate interests — to operate and secure the Website, and to respond to enquiries you send us
- Contract / steps prior to contract — where needed to provide support related to the App you use
- Consent — only if we later introduce optional features that require it (we will update this policy first)
Local rota settings stored only on your device by the App are under your control on that device.
8. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only if needed with service providers who help us run the Website (such as hosting), or if required by law.
9. Retention
- App data on your device: retained until you change it, clear it in the App, or delete the App
- Website logs: retained only as long as reasonably needed for security and operation of the Website
- Email enquiries: retained as long as needed to handle your request and keep an appropriate business record
10. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information we hold (such as enquiry emails and website infrastructure). Because App rota data is stored on your device, you should also protect your device with a passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, or similar device security features.
11. Children’s privacy
The App can be used by children and adults. It does not require an account and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Rota settings stay on the device.
12. Your rights
If UK GDPR applies to personal data we hold about you (for example in an email you send us), you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection, and to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
To exercise rights regarding information we hold, contact info@thatappcompany.co.uk.
13. International transfers
If our website hosting or email providers process data outside the UK, we will take appropriate steps required by applicable law.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App or Website after an update means you should review the revised policy.
